4 things to do in the Tatras on a rainy day
1. Always book an amazing chalet (just in case)
Whichever season, rainy days do occur. When it’s wet outside, what it looks and feels like inside makes all the difference to your stay. So booking a lovely apartment that will make you want to stay indoors is always a good idea. Seriously, some of those wooden houses in Zakopane are genuine pleasure to be in. Just make sure yours has a well-equipped kitchen, wi-fi and a fireplace before you make a booking.
We spent a rainy weekend in Brzegi near Bialka Tatrzanska and we can recommend Nowe Miejsce Brzegi. The house is absolutely gorgeous and our apartment felt really nice and cosy.

2. Choose the perfect location for your stay
Most people will probably want to book accommodation in Zakopane as it’s the most popular town in the Polish Tatras and has plenty of restaurants and stalls. When we make our bookings, our pick is commonly a quiet place that’s close enough to main towns and attractions. Such a location means we can easily reach different places of interest by car and there are also more things to do and see on a rainy day. To check out how we spent our rainy and misty weekend in Brzegi, read our posts A lovely chalet near Zakopane, Bukowina and Bialka Tatrzanska and Our weekend break in Brzegi in the Polish Tatras.
3. Visit thermal baths
Relaxing in thermal baths is great whatever the weather. If you travel with kids, the pools, rides and slides will keep them busy all (rainy) day long.
Below we’ve compiled a list of apartments (and hotels) located in the vicinity of the most popular thermal baths in the Polish Tatras:
Termy Bukovina in Bukowina Tatrzanska
Terma Bania in Bialka Tatrzanska
Chocholowskie Termy in Chocholow
Termy Szaflary in Szaflary
4. Visit museum in Zakopane
Zakopane has rich cultural heritage so if you’re into exploring traditional crafts, local history, art and clothes, visit the museums: Muzeum Tatrzanskie, Zagroda Korkoszow in Czarna Gora or Chata Sabaly. Zakopane is also known for its unique and distinct architecture style and if you feel like getting to know more about it, you should definitely visit Muzeum Stylu Zakopianskiego.
