Eating out in Krakow: French food

French Food Krakow Creme BruleeI should probably encourage you to have some Polish food during your stay in Krakow but since I can never resist a croissant nor crème brûlée, I’ve compiled a list of French bistros and restaurants in Krakow, Poland. Surprisingly, there are quite a few of them so if you’ve already tried pierogi, zurek and placki ziemniaczane, now is the time to check out the Parisian side of Krakow.

Bistro Charlotte in Plac Szczepanski

This popular French bistro is just a stone’s throw from Main Square (Rynek). It is famous for its breakfasts, fruit and chocolate spreads, freshly baked bread and baguettes. Croissants, sandwiches and tarts are on the menu too. Also, if you’d like to enjoy a glass of French wine in the evening, Charlotte is a very good place to go to.

BonJour CaVa in Warszawska Street 16

BonJour CaVa is a really nice café and a good spot for breakfasts in Krakow. It serves mainly coffee, tarts, smoothies and cakes. Lunch meals are also on the menu. The interior is a confident mix of white walls, wooden table tops and colourful chairs. Definitely worth a visit.

Corse Restaurant in Poselska Street 24

This restaurant specialises in Corsican cuisine so if you feel like some typically Mediterranean food, head for Poselska Street. Inside, with nautical colours and accessories the decor matches the philosophy of the food served here. La Petite Corse right in the centre of Krakow Old Town!

Cyrano de Bergerac in Slawkowska Street 26

Located in an atmospheric cellar and lit by tall candles, Cyran de Bergerac is a lovely place for a romantic night out. With delicious food, excellent service and charming interior this restaurant is simply a class of its own. Along with some well-known French delicacies, it also offers gourmet Polish dishes and has an extensive wine list.

La Fontaine Restaurant in Slawkowska Street 1

La Fontaine is an elegant cellar restaurant which was awarded the TripAdvisor Certificat D’Excellence in 2013. Along with the French menu it offers an extensive wine and cocktail list. If you’d like to have a romantic dinner, this place is perfect.

La Petite France in Szpitalna Street 20

La Petite France is both a bistro and a shop so if you’d like to buy some French wine or cheese and take home, this is the place to go. Located in the near vicinity of Main Square (Rynek), it’s also a good choice for breakfast or a healthy lunchtime snack in Krakow.

ZaKladka Food & Wine in Jozefinska Street 2

ZaKladka is a French-style bistro listed in the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2014. It has really nice black and white decor accompanied by a few bold red touches. The menu has been created by Rafal Targosz who is a recognised Polish chef. All in all, a very good place to go to if you want to have fine French food.

Zazie Bistro in Jozefa Street 34

This small bistro is located in the famous Kazimierz quarter. Inside, the decor is very retro and resembles a Parisian café. Zazie is generally known for its mussels, quiches and fantastic natural lemonades but the menu is varied and offers quite a few interesting dishes. Make sure you book a table in advance as the place is pretty popular.
